1. Who we are

Our Home Base is a home management application operated by Kaizah Trading Ltd, a company registered in England and Wales (company number 17107740). We help households track maintenance tasks, chores, costs, and contractors in one shared place.

2. What data we collect

We collect only what we need to provide the service:

  • Account information: your name and email address, collected when you sign up via Google or magic link.
  • Home data: tasks, chores, notes, costs, contractor details, and completion history that you enter into the app.
  • Household data: names and email addresses of household members you invite.
  • Usage data: basic server logs (request timestamps, error logs) to keep the service running reliably. We do not use third-party analytics trackers.
  • Payment data: if you subscribe to a paid plan, payments are processed by Stripe. We never store card details on our servers.

3. How we use your data

  • To provide and improve the Our Home Base service.
  • To send you email reminders for tasks and chores (which you can disable per task).
  • To send transactional emails such as sign-in links and household invitations.
  • To process subscription payments via Stripe.
  • To respond to support requests you send us.

We do not sell your data. We do not share your data with advertisers. We never will.

4. Who we share data with

We use a small number of trusted third-party services to operate Our Home Base:

  • Neon: our database provider, hosted in the EU. Your data is stored on their infrastructure.
  • Mailgun: used to send transactional and reminder emails. Your email address is passed to Mailgun for delivery purposes only.
  • Stripe: payment processing for Pro plans. Stripe is PCI DSS compliant.
  • Google: if you choose to sign in with Google, we receive your name and email from Google's OAuth service.
  • AWS Amplify: our hosting provider. Application code runs on AWS infrastructure in the EU.

All third-party providers are required to process your data only to deliver their service to us, and must maintain appropriate security standards.

5. Data retention

We keep your data for as long as your account is active. If you delete your account, your personal data and home data will be permanently deleted within 30 days. Anonymised, aggregated data (such as total task counts with no personal identifiers) may be retained for product improvement purposes.

6. Your rights

Under UK GDPR you have the right to:

  • Access: request a copy of the personal data we hold about you.
  • Rectification: ask us to correct inaccurate data.
  • Erasure: request deletion of your personal data ("right to be forgotten").
  • Restriction: ask us to limit how we process your data in certain circumstances.
  • Portability: receive your data in a structured, machine-readable format.
  • Object: object to certain types of processing.

7. Cookies

Our Home Base uses only essential cookies required for the app to function. Specifically, a session cookie to keep you signed in. We do not use advertising cookies or tracking cookies. We do not use Google Analytics or similar services.

8. Children's privacy

Our Home Base supports child accounts within a family household. Child accounts are created and managed by a parent or guardian who is the household owner. We do not knowingly collect personal data directly from children under 13 without parental consent. Child accounts can only access the chores section of the app and cannot modify household settings.

9. Security

We take security seriously. All data is transmitted over HTTPS. Passwords are never stored. We use magic link email sign-in and Google OAuth, which means there is no password to compromise. Database access is restricted and encrypted at rest. We regularly review our security practices.

10. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. If we make significant changes, we will notify you via email or a prominent notice in the app. The date at the top of this page shows when the policy was last updated.
